Same as it Ever Was - but Different

Same as it ever was.
Google is changing everything.
Panic. Chaos. Turtles flying everywhere.
And still, you are expected to know best, right? Someone is going to come to you, as an SEO copywriter, and expect you to know the answers that no one else is providing.
OK - make a choice. Tell them what they want to hear, or learn what is best. Either way, people just like you have made bundles of money at it.
I choose to learn more about what is happening, rather than just fanning expectations. Lip service is easy to find most anywhere, and I would prefer people who need that kind of coddle find it from people who are better at its delivery. I am too blunt.
I am better at digging through some data, looking at some numbers worth crunching and extrapolating inferences from it. Sometimes the numbers aren't worth crunching, for sure - but without numbers, most of it is conjecture anyway, so you can say anything you want. I'd rather wait for the data to roll in.
And now Google changes the algo in a huge way, and it is once again time to run for the hills. It is time once again, to change absolutely everything about how you create and promote something on the web. Google has spoken - and so I, like you, am ready to kneel.
Or not.
You decide - I have.
It's a big bad Internet out there.

Gift of the Magi

I rewrote The Gift of the Magi as if it were penned, or revised by (se)O Henry.
I kill me sometimes.
It is the first day of a new year - great things in store for sure. I'll come back for a recap of last year in a couple days.
But The Gift of the Magi was my belated Christmas gift to the anonymous whatever. I encourage you to read it, as it will likely change you into a better person, more willing to stop and help ease the suffering of your fellow man. I can't promise that of course, but I can believe.
Have an SEO-filled year!

Stuff and nonsense

Hey - you want to be a writer for a living. Cool. We all do.
Build some depth to your repertoire.
Work for nothing.
Work for insight.
Work for shiny things.
But for God's sake, get working.
I hear so many tales of wishes - so few of traveled paths that didn't lead somewhere.

Yipes - I still have time

Every day, you have the opportunity to do a variety of different things that might steer you in a particular direction.

Being a freelance seo writer, you need to adapt your strategies.

Google is changing a lot in 2010. The playing field is being shuffled right now, and it is not terribly clear who the victors will be. Will it be the spam doctors, or the specialists? Will anyone outside the SEO sphere give a hoot?

The end result is going to be the same thing that has been happening now for years. There is a change in Google, and people start acting like the Pope is pooping in Times Square.

Look, it is easy, and always has been easy. Build a good site. Mean it. If you struggle to express yourself, hire someone like me. But get your individual message across. You still have time to be brilliant.

There has never been a more exciting time than now. Capture that essence for someone who hires you, and being an SEO freelancer makes a lot more sense.

Some great things in store

I have been having an amazing year.
My professional network has reached some great people, and I am doing work I am very proud to do. The only unfortunate thing, is it means blogposts, new ideas for marketing, and other things I do to promote my business are get pushed to the back-burner for a while.
Not a terrible thing - because really, it is a matter of simply realigning my strategies and receptiveness to new opportunities.

However, it has left this blog untended for a while. If there were readers here, I would apologize. Heck, I'd probably just invite them over for some BBQ and cold beer, letting bygones get swallowed along with Sweet Baby Ray's Raspberry Chipoltle BBQ Sauce and some Anchor Steam.

So if you are around and want some pork butt, ket me know. It's the least I could do for leaving you hanging here.

New SEO Copywriting Tip on Writing Titles for SEO

I just wrote a new little tip on the Articulayers site about how to write better SEO titles and flow your keywords into your content. It could help you do better in the engines I think, but it depends on how much you want to push it. We're not all Mahalo.

Freelance Mohawk

I am pretty infamous in my little circles for my mohawk when I was 17 years old.
Share in the love of Marty's Mohawk in all of its roaring glory.

Don't have time to read my three paragraph post?

You can feel free to worship Martys Mohawk in the comfort of your own home. Print this image, and mail me $5. Carve a statue of me from lunch meat, or your favorite cake. Lick your windows for me.

Freelance SEO writing should be so much fun.
